Why I Write

This is my second contribution to the first Writing 101 assignment on why I write. These words came to me, so I wrote.

I write because
life is often a mystery,
producing emotions
that I feel and can almost see.

I write because
when I speak,
the words come out
sloppy and weak.

I write because
it helps me to see
which way I am heading in life
and how things can be.

I write because
words fly into my head
and just won’t leave
until they are written down to be read.

  1. Writing a good poetry seems like an achievement to me because I can’t write one. Good one 👍

    • Thanks! My brother is a very gifted and talented artist. So was my grandfather. I don’t know of anyone else in my family who wrote, but my daughter has started writing poetry and she’s only 9. I told her that I better get moving on my book or she publish before I do. 🙂

  2. those words pester you like they do me 🙂 begging to be put down on a page.

    • YES! They won’t leave me alone.

      • Me either and I have an army of characters throwing those words at me. 🙂

Tell me what you're thinking:
